Colorado Campaign Strategies

Both Obama and McCain are pouring resources into Colorado. Their campaigns are micro-targeting specific voter constituencies in order to maximize their outcome on election day. Campaign spokespersons for both candidates have been releasing strategy statements to the press.

PolitikerCO.com reports, "Barack Obama's Colorado campaign is targeting independent suburban voters, Latinos in the southern part of the state and voters in traditionally Republican areas, Obama senior strategist Robert Gibbs said Thursday, according to the Denver Post.
Meanwhile, John McCain's campaign is also focusing on winning over Latinos and is putting resources in the Denver Metro area, said political director Mike DuHaime, according to the Post."

These statements highlight the importance the importance of Colorado as a highly contested battleground state for both camapaigns.
